Dear Patrons of Cripple Creek-Victor School District Re-1:
It is my pleasure to bring to you our Stakeholders’ Report focusing on the 2006-2007 school year. Please take your time to review the progress of our district. We use last year’s information to guide us in changes in order to provide our students the best education possible, but we also continue to look at the present and the future. As we focus on achieving excellence for each of our students, it is nice to see what changes we have made during this school year as well.
This year we added an additional preschool classroom to accommodate the needs of our students and parents in the district. Now we can serve all of the preschool needs in our district, including half or full day requirements! Early childhood education has been proven to positively affect achievement for students later on. Having the ability to provide this important stage of education for all of our students is exciting.
The district-wide focus on literacy that we began in August is evident in our Intervention Block for our elementary students and a Literacy Lab for each of our secondary students. This saturation of literacy at the appropriate level is aiding our growth in reading as well as in other subjects.
In November we were fortunate to pass our bond issue to renovate and make additions to meet the needs of our secondary students and staff as well as upgrade security in each of our buildings. Facilities are a goal of the school board, and the bond will enable us to take care of many issues.
You as parents, community members, and business owners are vitally important to our growth and function as a school district. Thank you for your input and support.
Most sincerely,
Sue Holmes Superintendent |
