Cripple Creek District Status: Accredited
Upon review of the preponderance of evidence for the accreditation indicators, the Colorado Department of Education determined that the Cripple Creek School District is meeting the intent of the requirements, as set forth in Colorado State Board of Education Rules 2202-R-0.00 through 4.02 (5), and will continue to be accredited.
Commendations for 2006-2007
Ø The District is committed to vertical articulation. Elementary, junior high and high school teachers are collaborating to align the curriculum to standards. Ø Cripple Creek School District is participating in the Rural Secondary Literacy Project in order to better address the needs of struggling readers at the secondary level. · The district has also put “literacy labs” in place for all secondary students. Ø The District has developed a Mission Statement, “Achieving excellence one student at a time.” Specific School Achievement Plans have been developed to move the mission statement to action. Ø The District is developing systems and professional development to support individualized and differentiated instructions Ø Disciplinary Referrals have shown decrease by 50% due to clarification of expectation and the development of a system for discipline and behavior at the classroom level.
Actions to Be Taken 2007-2008
Ø The District is below the state average as measured by weighted indices in reading, writing, and math. The District needs to continue to focus on researched-based educational strategies that will increase achievement for all students. 4.01 (1) (C) Ø The District needs to continue the use of data to make instructional decisions at the classroom level. 4.01(1)(D)
