CC-V District Goals and Progress
The Cripple Creek-Victor School District Accountability Committee leads the accountability for the quality and efficiency of the educational programs offered by our schools. Committee members are comprised of parents, community members, teachers, and administrators. During the 2006-2007 school year, the committee focused on the following goals:
Ø Monitor district and school academic improvement by studying goals and action plans of the District Improvement Plan and each School Improvement Plan.
Ø Ensure achievement scores in reading, writing, and math, attaining at least one year’s growth in one year’s time for our students
Ø Review budgets from previous years and make recommendations for 2007-2008 budget.
Ø Assist with the development of parent and student surveys as well as looking at data obtained from the surveys in order to improve the schools.
The District Accountability Committee monitored progress on each of these goals through monthly meetings using District and School Improvement Plans, academic data, budget and staffing information, and survey feedback. As evidenced by our CSAP scores, gains were made again last year. The administrative team and instructional staff know that utilizing benchmark-driven quarterly assessments, individual student data from progress monitoring, and beginning to work with students in smaller groups aided in our ability to make academic gains. Using district goals to drive the budget is sound budgeting philosophy. The Accountability Committee is devoted to making sure money is spend in the right places. Survey feedback was used to make changes to best meet the needs of our students and parents.
The CC-V Board of Education is committed to the focus on academic progress and relies on the District Accountability Committee to assist the district with the progress monitoring while still providing a safe environment.
School board policies and procedures include information for dealing with students who cause disruptions in the classroom, on school grounds, and at school activities. The District and each school will be revisiting the Crisis Management Plan. The following programs help create a safe and civil learning environment: periodic safety inspections of school, Bully Prevention Programs, building-based emergency crisis plans, a School Resource Officer, and policies for conduct and discipline codes.
