The Colorado Department of Education uses the Colorado Student Assessment Program (CSAP) to measure students and their progress in grades 3—10 in the areas of reading, writing, and math, and in grades 5, 8, and 10 in the area of science.
The Cripple Creek-Victor school district has been making gains on the CSAP assessment. The district saw the greatest gains in the elementary (grades 3 and 6) last year. There have been some ups and downs over all; however, the district realized many improvements when compared to the state during the past school year.
The district uses data from the CSAP assessments as well as data from various other assessments to aid in the teaching of our students. Teachers use the data to pinpoint areas of need for individual and groups of students. The data you see in this report was analyzed in the August and September to determine instruction for this school year.
School Accountability
The School Accountability Reports (SAR’s) were released by the Colorado Department of Education in December. The reports are available in the school offices and will be available at spring conferences. The state assigns performance ratings to individual schools: Excellent, High, Average, Low, and Unsatisfactory. These ratings are based on CSAP scores for each school.
Every year each school is also given an Academic Growth of Students rating. This is figured by using the academic growth of individual students and then taking the difference between the percentage of students who gained over the last year and the percentage of students who lost ground over the last year.
The district is pleased that our SAR Ratings are holding steady and know that addressing individual needs is what will increase our Growth and in turn our SAR Ratings.”
